District Bears and Blankets Contest– GFWC-NC is proud to host state night at the 2027 GFWC Convention in Charlotte in honor of our North Carolina federation sister and current GFWC President Wendy Carriker. Our clubwomen are being challenged to make as many bears and blankets as possible to be used as centerpieces at the state night dinner. These centerpieces will then be donated to Victory Junction, an organization near and dear to Wendy’s heart that that gives children living with complex medical and physical needs a traditional camp experience. There is a statewide contest to see which district can make the most bears and blankets. In an effort to get Dogwood District clubwomen involved, we are also offering a district competition. Each month, by the last day of the month, from now through the District Arts Festival in February, we are asking clubwomen to submit the number of bears and blankets they have created to our contest chair, Kim Fulcher, who will keep track of our overall numbers and give us monthly updates. The winner will be announced via social media and will receive a special recognition and prize at next year’s annual meeting. The bear pattern can be found here and the blanket instructions here.
