Club Federation

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club is Federated under the national organization General Federation of Woman’s Clubs (GFWC), and General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of North Carolina (GFWC-NC). These organizations are important to our service in a number of ways.

GFWC

The General Federation of Woman’s Clubs (GFWC) works locally and nationally with an unwavering dedication to community improvement through volunteer service. Simply put, we impact lives, through acts large and small. GFWC offers the Women’s History and Resource Center, leadership training, the Legislative Action Center, conventions, scholarships, and much more. For example, the Legislative Action Center (LAC) allowed our members to be a large part of why mammograms are free through insurance. GFWC backs non-partisan legislation at the national level and the Legislative Action Center opens the door for club women to have their voices heard. Our members network across the country in many ways to make a larger impact in our country and world.

GFWC-NC

The General Federation of Woman’s Clubs of North Carolina works to create change in our state through shaping public policy in NC on issues related to women, children, and families; leadership training for members, offers a framework for community service projects, federation awards, contacts, and through grants to local clubs. GFWC-NC also provides conventions and meetings to foster interaction and collaboration between local clubs. Each two year term starts a new President’s Special Project, a revised list of affiliate organizations whose goals align with our directives, and National Day of Service project. Currently GFWC-NC is backing non-partisan legislation to improve the lives of women, children, and families in our state. Our National Day of Service is near the end of September each year and battles food insecurity across our state. Our members network to increase their impact across the state and create friendships across the state as they work together.

FVWC

The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club members are also members of GFWC-NC and GFWC. Our club is the oldest volunteer civic organization in Fuquay-Varina and offers a wide variety of community service projects in our community with over 100 projects each year. We have been busy and fruitful. We offer leadership opportunities; fellowship with volunteer minded women; the ability to shape and advocate for local policies; opportunities to volunteer at the district, state, and national levels of the Federation; and the ability to make our volunteer efforts greater by working together and collaborating with the community. Within our community there are many needs that the club decides how we can work together to implement the projects. Along the way you will find some of the nicest and hardest working people in town!

“I strongly believe that the more effort you put in, the more rewards you receive. Anything you can do, however small, to help yourself or someone else is always time well spent”

“All the great work we do in our community and the wonderful friends I have made as a member of our club are two of the reasons I love being a clubwoman. We have something for everyone and we welcome anyone who is committed to working to make our town, state and world a better place – what’s not to love!”
