January 17th and 18th:
The Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club and the GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) Junior Woman’s Club of Fuquay- Varina are jointly hosting their annual Arts Festival on January 17th & 18th at Windsor Point Auditorium in Fuquay-Varina from 1-4.
All members of our community are welcome to participate! We have an area for non-judged entries submitting by community members, an area of student judged entries for all area public, private and home schooled children, and an area of judged Woman’s Club entries within Arts, Crafts, and Literature.
We welcome everyone to visit our website for more information about how you can enter your arts, crafts, and literature that has been completed within the last year.
Since the formation of the national GFWC Arts Department in 1902 we have grown from club member only participation to entire community wide participation in our annual Arts Festivals.
Early shows were confined to the Ennis Street clubhouse displaying entries from several area Fuquay schools and from clubwomen. In 1994 the first Community Arts show was held. In 1998 the Fuquay-Varina Woman’s Club first invited the students of northern Harnett County to become participants.
While the GFWC levels do not provide competition for these, the festival emphasizes participation from elementary students and from local community artists. These show the women’s goal of encouraging the arts among all of our residents.
For this 2015 Arts Festival, a total of eighteen (18) local schools (not including all local home school or after school groups) have been invited to participate in this year’s Art Festival.
